WORLD BANK MISSION DISCUSSED THE 2019 WORK PLAN WITH PROJECT BENEFICIARIES

The World Bank mission invited representatives of the project beneficiaries to evaluate the 2018 implementation of the project as well as discuss the activities to be implemented in 2019. The technical workshop took place at “Tushee” hall on the 9th floor of Ministry of Finance.
The following topics were discussed:
      1.    Challenges faced during the first-year implementation of the project;
      2.    Key goals for the second-year implementation of the project;
      3.    Prioritization of activities for greater impact;
      4.    Potential implementation challenges and ways to mitigate the risks during the second year.
The following issues were discussed within each component to reach a general understanding:
       1.    Strategic directions of high importance for each component;
       2.    Determine the priority activities in order to reach the project outcomes;
       3.    Evaluate the project results framework with special attention to the intermediate results;
       4.    Decide upon the timing and sequencing of activities to be carried out in the second year.


After the discussion a representative from each component presented the main outcomes of the discussion as well as shared information and their experiences. The World Bank will conduct the Mid-Term Review of the Project in 2019, therefore, implementing entities were requested to accelerate the project activities.
After the discussion, the World Bank mission will meet with authorities of some beneficiaries that they need additional clarification from.
Additionally, the preliminary 2019 Work Plan will be presented to the management of the Ministry of Finance and approved by the Project Steering Committee.

WORK PLAN AND PROCUREMENT PLAN FOR THE YEAR 2018 HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE STEERING COMMITTEE

The Project Work Plan and Procurement Plan for the 2018 under the Strengthening Fiscal and Financial Stability project was approved by the Steering Committee members on March 14, 2018. The Project Steering Committee has 10 members and the plans were approved with 100% attendance.

As initiated by the World Bank a joint video conference held between the World Bank component experts, Project implementation unit staff and Coordinating consultants on March 16, 2018 at the UB Bank office.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT TRAINING HAS BEEN ORGANIZED FOR THE COMPONENT COORDINATORS AND WORKING GROUP MEMBERS

The Project implementation unit organized a training for component coordinating consultants and working group members on March 13, 2018. The purpose of the training was to ensure that project implementing personnel are aware of all adhered documents and implementation procedures, to support the professional effectiveness of the meetings conducted between World Bank mission and Beneficiary leads and promptly implement the project to achieve the intended target. 

INTRODUCED PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION PROGRESS TO THE STATE SECRETARY OF THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE, PROJECT DIRECTOR MR. S. NARANTSOGT

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Project Director Mr. S. Narantsogt and Advisor to the Finance Minister Mr. K. Demberel have been introduced to the current implementation progress and plan for 2018 of the two ongoing World Bank projects implemented by the Ministry of Finance “Export Development Project” and “Strengthening Fiscal and Financial Stability Project” and provided specific guidance.
